Introducing our new digital schemes portal

A faster, smarter digital claims experience

We are pleased to announce that SA Dental is transitioning to a digital approach for managing schemes claims.

We are developing the SA Dental Schemes Portal (the Portal) which will allow private practices to electronically complete, confirm, and submit schemes digitally for faster payment.

Initially the Portal will support General Dental Schemes (GDS), with plans to expand to Emergency Dental Schemes (EDS), Public Denture Schemes (PDS) and Specialty Schemes in the future.

What the new Portal means for your practice

  • Digital forms remove the need for manual recording and fee calculations.
  • Patients will receive their ‘authorisation code’ via an SMS. If SMS is unsuccessful, the patient will still receive a paper copy GDS-letter, and as a practice you will be able to complete GDS claims digitally via the Portal.
  • Practices can access the Portal via a secure interface using a web browser on your practice PC or iPad/tablet, allowing real-time access for claim completion across multiple appointments.
  • Practices will be able to track each claim from partial completion through to submission and approval, with visibility of any pending claims that may require further information.
  • Once GDS care is complete, patients will receive an SMS link to confirm treatment was provided (replacing paper signatures). Upon confirmation, the claim will be immediately processed for payment. If the patient does not confirm treatment via SMS, the claim will be automatically forwarded to the Schemes Unit after 5 days.

Next steps

The Portal will be piloted with a few targeted private practices across South Australia over the coming months, to ensure it is an effective digital solution.

More information, including registration steps and available support, will be shared throughout the pilot stage as we move closer to our digital launch.

We look forward to working with you during this exciting transition, if you have any questions please contact SA Dental Schemes Unit.
