Is this a dental emergency?

A dental emergency could be:

swelling of the face, especially if it is hard to breathe
trauma to the face, especially if it is hard to breathe
bleeding from the mouth that will not stop
an ulcer or sore in your mouth that has not healed for 2 weeks or more
severe mouth pain that keeps you awake
tooth fracture, an opening of the tooth’s nerve
significant dental trauma for example your tooth has been knocked out.

It's important to act quickly

During business hours (8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday) call your closest dental clinic

*Please note - Adults must hold a current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, to be seen for emergency dental care.

Do you hold a current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card?

Adults (18 years or older) must hold a current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card and live in South Australia to access dental care at our clinics.

Please note we do not accept a Medicare Card for adults.

Adult dependants (18 - 21 years) of the cardholder whose names are listed on the card can access dental care.
A person listed as a partner on a concession card is not eligible to access dental care unless they have their own concession card.
Department of Veteran's Affairs cardholders may be eligible for treatment with Veteran Dental Services. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs information line on 13 32 54.

Fissure sealants are thin protective coatings that seal the fissures of your teeth and make it easier to clean.

General dental care – fees and waiting times apply for general dental care.

General dental care includes:

checkup and examinations
scale and clean
extraction of teeth
fillings
x- rays
fissure sealants
oral health advice
root canal treatment

Specialist dental care - Fees and waiting times apply for all specialist dental services.

Specialist dental services are available at the Adelaide Dental Hospital by referral from a SA Dental clinic or private practitioner.
